Kat’s Picks for Yoga Gear

It is so frustrating to constantly adjust your gear during class!

You’ll want to find clothing that won’t restrict your movement; uncomfortable or loose-fitting clothing can be distracting and take you out of the moment. Instead, opt for tighter fitting garments, that allow you to bend, stretch and breathe throughout your practice.

It’s important to know what is worth investing in, and what you can turn to Amazon or TJ Maxx for. Luckily, I'm here to help with that.

LEGGINGS

The first piece of yoga gear I consider when preparing to practice is my leggings. I always opt for leggings over shorts. I tend to sweat (a lot!) so leggings help to wick away moisture, where shorts cause me to slip. I prefer less compression when I practice, leggings that are too tight are just not my thing.

I live in (Lululemon Aligns). Yes, Lulu is ‘boujey’, and comes with a price tag that reflects that. They are, however, worth it. I have Aligns from 5+ years ago that I still wear, Aligns that carried me through my pregnancy with twins and I have yet to get a hole or rip in my Aligns, even with a very active French Bulldog (who has tested that theory).  My favorite thing about these leggings is that they genuinely stay in place, and require little (if any) adjusting. My personal favorite are the black 28” (Lululemon Aligns). I am 5’6 and this length covers my heel. I also like the 25” length for a 7/8 look.

Note: I advise sizing down if between sizes. Check out this Bronze Green color that is currently on (SALE!)

These 90 Degree by Reflex leggings are, by far, the best ‘dupes’ for Aligns, at a fraction of the price! The waist band is a bit tighter than Aligns, so if you are between sizes, size up for comfort.  These measure around 28”.

TOPS

Choosing a good sports bra (that keeps the ladies in place) is essential. In my opinion, this is totally a preference thing, and depends on your build. My go -to sports bra is the Athleta (Conscious Crop). They also offer sizing for (D-DD).

I often turn to Amazon for tops – check out this Set of Three sports bras for $26!

I love these cropped tanks, and they pair well with high waisted leggings, plus you get 4 tops for $29!

MATCHING SETS

Lately, I have been super into matching sets. Mostly, because it’s easy, requires no thought and makes me look pulled together without trying.

My favorite brand is Set Active. I prefer their Sculptflex material, which is ribbed and seamless. The Luxform sets are nice too, and remind me a lot of Aligns. The Set Active Black Friday sale is live online!

For reference, I weigh around 140, and size M fits me well in both tops and bottoms.

I have tried other matching sets (gymshark, amazon, etc.) and nothing has stood up to the forward fold test.

MATT’S RECOMMENDATIONS (for the yogi man in your life…)

I swear by these Anthem Athletic Shorts for my flow.

This extra long Lululemon Mat gives me more room to practice than a traditional length mat.

Just trust me on this one.

Kat really likes my butt in these Lululemon ABC Pants : ) They are basically socially acceptable sweatpants disguised as workwear.
